Communities of Service
Memphis Scholars is committed to serving the students and families within our local neighborhoods. As one network with two campuses, Caldwell,-Guthrie supports North Memphis including the Klondike, Smokey City, New Chicago, and Douglas neighborhoods. Memphis Scholars South Campus supports South Memphis serving students from 5 different Memphis zip codes.
Curriculum
Memphis Scholar’s school day is structured within a five-day, seven period, 60 minute schedule. The 180-day school year is divided into four quarters, beginning in August and ending in May. Each day, scholars engage in the four core subjects: reading, math, science, and social studies. Memphis Scholars uses Expeditionary Learning (reading and social studies), Eureka Math (math), and StemScopes (science) as the core curricula.

Memphis Scholars South Campus instructs 314 scholars from Pre-K through 8th grade instruction in south Memphis. The student body ethnic composition is 97% African American, 2% Hispanic, .75% Caucasian, and .25% American Indian. Last year, 100% of scholars throughout the Memphis Scholars network qualified for free and reduced lunch. Students at South Campus enjoy the luxury of small classroom sizes and hands-on learning science labs.

The student body ethnic composition is 97% African American, 2% Hispanic, .75% Caucasian, and .25% American Indian. Caldwell-Guthrie was recently named a level 4 school on the Tennessee Student Growth Assessment.
